Two years later, the problem seems to have worsened.

Those people who otherwise insists that their wishes of not being sold be respected have invented "Not for sale": a rule designed to impair everyone's fair game.

There is already "friends-only mode", but some people refuse to use it because they demand a built-in "Not for sale" feature.

I don't know why players like them exist in the game. I decided to start a campaign to abolish their made-up rule.

sabretoof, that is absolutely correct - the application is voluntary to install, no arguing about that one. On the other hand, I still think that for those who'd only like to play friends only there should be a magical button allowing them to do so. The thing is, facebook is a community which is actually made out of (and broken into) many many smaller groups, communities, families, networks - call it whatever you like. Anyhow, some of us want to be part of it, but still keep some distance (or privacy) at the same time ;)

Tomas, my comments were not intended to encourage people from playing friends-only. Quite the opposite - I think if you don't like the game as its supposed to be played, you shouldn't play it.

No one is forcing you to install it. (and you should only be able to bought by non-friends if you're uninstalled in response to the other poster) The developers aren't required to respect anyone's wishes if participation is voluntary.

My comments merely reflect the fact that some people who have installed FFS are somewhat unhinged and cause all manner of grief for the proper players. That's the only reason I think it should be added.

And as for the nicknames issue, there are already reporting mechanisms for that.

I have to agree with sabretoof, and I have to agree with him strongly. The thing is some of us have only installed the application to play amongst our friends.
Trouble with this open-game setup is that you never know who buys you, for what reasons, what horrible nicknames they might possibly give you. And frankly, I do NOT want to be someone's toy or whatever... I want to be able to control who buys me, either by choosing to play with friends only or by having an option to reject someone's offer/bid to buy me ;)
The creator of this application should consider its user's wishes.

I certainly hope there one day is a proper friends...

I certainly hope there one day is a proper friends-only option. Private profiles are already a dodgy version of it. It would be a lot more pleasant to be able to play without worrying about crazies abusing people for buying them.

It would not be difficult to encourage people verbally and financially to play openly, and there would no longer be any confusion.

Of course, the private pet problem needs to solved first, or this would be a disaster.
